DESCRIPTION: Switzerland, a rare gold and enamel leaf form pendant watch, 8 jewels, key wind and set gilt bar movement with cylinder escapement in an 18 karat, yellow gold, leaf form hunting case, the surface with fine engraving, and the leaf veins rendered in black enamel, the cuvette signed "Patek a Geneve", Roman numeral white enamel dial with heart shaped, foliate engraved surround, plum colored steel Breguet style hands, serial #9878, 27mm x 37mm to top of pendant, 20.8g TW, c1855.
CONDITION: CASE: Small hole in rear cover at catch; Pinhole in front cover at pendant; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Cover lift springs missing; Enamel with minor losses; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Minor losses at fixing screws, 3:00 and 9:00. HANDS: Minor loss to color. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches on plate; Minor gouging of bridges at screw holes; Screwheads with minor marring; Minor spotting. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks). This watch was sold as a genuine Patek in our Spring, 2018 sale, but was returned by the consignor, as his request for an extract Patek Philippe could not be fulfilled, as the description of the watch bearing this number in their records does not match this timepiece. It is therefore likely that it is a mid 19th century counterfeit, signed Patek in order to capitalize on the firms reputation.
